Truth and Love in Balance

I wanted to share this quote:

Zeal for the truth must be balanced by love for people. Truth without love has no decency; it’s just brutality. On the other hand, love without truth has no character:  it’s just hypocrisy.

John McArthur, Twelve Ordinary Men, page 106

Some people want to focus on the love of God to the extreme creating an imbalance where the truth of God is relegated to mere facts. It distorts the importance of having a healthy balance of God’s love which isn’t tainted by the minimizing of God’s truth.

To be Christlike is “the perfect expression of truth and the perfect expression of love.” (Ibid. p. 106)

Until next time,
