You Can Leave

While attending seminary, I attended Open Door Church in Raleigh, NC.  Shortly after the senior pastor left, the associate pastor took over the realms as pastor. His pattern of worship was to do a sermonette during the invitation time until there was a response. Even if it meant asking a question calling on a positive response by walking down the aisle. It was manipulation.

His second practice was to let the members know if they didn’t like the way things were they could leave. He gave several invitations to leave. Many took him up on it and left.

I have now been a witness to a management telling a staff member they can leave if they are not happy. Dare say many will be taking him up on the invitation. I know I am. However, in my time and in my way.

How wonderful it must be to treat people like you can take em or leave em. They must mean little to nothing. Seems the pastor and the manager had the same issue.

Until next time,
