She was born in 1981. The only child of a young married couple. She wasn’t very old at all, just beginning to walk well. The first incident was a trip to the country to see relatives. As it would happen Uncle Bobby was expecting his first grandchild. Because of that he asked the young father if he could spend some time with the young girl. He was excited about seeing his old grandchild very soon from that day.
As family members scattered throughout the house and the young children played in the yard, Uncle Bobby walked the little girl around the house. Suddenly she disappeared! Just vanished! Thankfully Uncle Bobby was focussed on her and ran to the opening in the ground and was able to grab the child by the collar of her shirt and pull her to the surface.
Her life was saved. For what reason? Is there a specific reason? Dad hovered over the child, cleaning and calming her. The experience was traumatic for her and Uncle Bobby. Not to mention the parents.
Jump forward approximately three years. The young parents are caring for their three to four year old daughter. The same parents and child mentioned earlier. On this ocassion the parents are custodians, caring for a camp designed specifically for a special group of folks.
The place was vacant except for the manager and his wife who came by to spend a day or two. The child’s father worked on the grounds while the child and her mother sat by the in-ground pool to keep the manager company while he was swimming laps.
Mom decided to let the little child sit on the steps going down into the pool. Apparently when the little three to four old daughter got up she slipped into the pool. She went under the water. She could not swim. Mom stood there frozen. The little girl was drowning. Mom yells.
The man in the pool reached towards the little girl, still under the water, and raised her up. He immediately began caring for her. Two things about the man you should know. First he was totally blind. He could not see at all. The child was not making any thrashing sounds because she was under water. Yet, the man went directly to her.
Second, the man in the pool was also a Masseuse. He gave massages as a trainer for the YMCA. He knew what to do to treat the child.
God provided a watchful eye to be alert as the small child fell into a hole. God provided a blind man and directed him to a drowning three to four year old. Why? Doesn’t it seem her life was spared.
By now you know I’m the father of the young girl. I’d like to say she grew up and is living for Jesus. That she has made full use of the life God has given her. I can only ponder what will she do with her life and what plan God has for her.
Until Next Time,
