From the little “family chapel” type of church to the ‘mega-church’ come reports of baptisms and confessions of faith. Some of the average size congregations can become disheartened and critical of the reports of hundreds of professions from the mega church and their combined satellites.
When a great number of people respond when there is believed no clear presentation of the true gospel of Jesus Christ and what one must do biblically in order to be true saved, skeptics likely rears its head. The cynicism is often revealed by the question, “Wonder just how many of the really got saved?”
The answer for any size church is with the suggestion to ‘Check Back In A Year.’ You can get a better gauge of what took and maybe what could have been an emotional moment without true saving faith. Is the person who made a profession of faith still attending worship. Are they active in the local assembly even after a year?
