Address Unknown

The story is told of a man who was a constant witness for the Lord. All throughout his life he would tell others about the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a good witness.

His desire to be a witness lead him him to find some way to still warn others even after his death. It dawned on him how people like to read tombstones as they walked through cemeteries. Therefore, he decided to have these lines written on his tombstone for all to read:

“As you are now so once was I, prepare my friend to follow me.”

However, Someone passing by decided to add these lines:

“To follow you is not my intent until I know which way you went!”

So many in this world live a double life. Church-goers on Sunday and devil-acting demons the rest of the week. Talk like a saint in church, cuss like a sailor at work.

The sad reality is when they die most who know them and are honest with themselves know the writing on the tombstone just as well should read, “Address Unknown.” It’s anybody guess whether they were truly saved or not.

My friend, live in such a way that, should you profess salvation in Jesus Christ, your marker can stand as a testament to your eternal home.

Until Next Time,

Hoss
