What’s Heaven to smell like? I recall a pastor friend of mine telling me years ago about his dream of Heaven’s aroma.
He spoke of a smell so nice it was indescribable. He woke and it was as though he could still smell the same aroma he had sensed while in his dream.
Scripture escapes me which refer to the aroma of Heaven. I can recall passages which talk about incense going towards the heavens. There is passage which speaks of the stench in the nostrils of God which mankind has allowed to permeate the vastness of heaven.
Numerous passages address the sweet-smelling savor. Wonder what smells good to God? Wonder what Heaven will smell like. Does obedience have a smell in Heaven? What about Love? What is going to be the one smell which no one will be allergic to and which everyone will find pleasing? Maybe the aroma of Heaven will smell like acceptance. The sense of belonging would please any soul. But you say, perhaps, that these are not things which have an aroma.
The aroma of heaven, is it found in the regenerate soul? I can’t imagine what the aroma of Heaven will be like but neither can I imagine Heaven without a pleasant, all-inspiring aroma.
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is adequate for these things? For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God. (2 Corinthians 2:14-17 NASB)
