The Evaporation of Authority

I read an article a little while ago about the organization called World Vision and their decision to hire same-sex Christians. Their foundation for doing this, according to them, is an attempt to leave religious authority to the church. Sounds a little credible at first glance. However, there is one major problem.

The Authority of the Christian Church is Rapidly Evaporating!

Society pays little attention to what the church has to say except for purposes of ratings for the medias, to insight arguments, to increase posts on their social medias, or to ridicule. And why do you suppose the church has lost it’s authority. Reasons include:

*Sin in the pulpit. Society is tired of having the finger pointed at them when there is sin in the house!

*Sin in the pew. People don’t give a care. Not enough to change

*Compromise in doctrine. Same-sex, heterosexuals living together and attending church like all is well is a slap in the face of God! God loves you enough to take you as you are but also loves you enough not to let you stay that way.

*Sin is embraced.

*Selective sins forgiven. Homosexuals can pastor a church but not a man who has been divorced at the instigation of his spouse!

*Services are now a spectator sport filled with pep rallies to encourage without calling out sins to be confessed, repented of and forgiveness acquired.

Just how much authority does your church have? Who really listens to what the church has to say? Precious little!!

Why?

Because church-goers, members and non-members alike, do not take seriously where the absolute authority comes from. God!

God’s Word is absolute authority. If you do not believe that then you have a flawed view. God’s Word is not to be cut and pasted according to our likes or dislikes.

People get more worked up over being King James only than being God’s Word Compliant only. They have more doctrine in their head than they do in their practice.

Yes, it angers me to see sin so rampant and the voice of the church taken for granted. Yes it bothers me when the focus is on where you preach from rather than what you preached. I’m not endorsing all versions of the bible. However, I will tell you this:

Who under God’s green earth has the authority to say the Holy Spirit of God can’t use something other than the KJV to convict of sin?

As a born-again believer, bought by the Blood of the Lamb, bound by the Bible, I do hereby testify I am a member of God’s family, “The Church” and am sickened to see the death and dying of houses of worship, people of society who have to continually convince themselves they are doing right what God calls wrong.

Individuals have hurt the church immeasurably.
Osteen
Phelps
Swaggart
Health and Wealth Spouters,
Roberts,
Jennings, Etc…

God help me to not be a hindrance but a help. Forgive my transgression and establish my path in spite of the Christians who step in the way.

Article may sound like it is coming from an angry person. It is. You know who I am most angry at? Me. I need to be His reflection and find that I often fail miserably. Some would suggest this is true even now.

Until next time,
