The Right Reason

Have you ever heard there are three sides to every story? There is his side, her side and the right [truth] side. Reasons and excuses abound. Reasons and excuses are not the same. The oldest manufacturing business in the world today is ‘making excuses.’

I want to focus for a few moments on reasons. I have read and heard reasons regarding our eternal destiny. We are told of our choices. Among those are:
smoking or non-smoking
* up or down
* turn or burn
* heaven or hell
* torment or paradise
* etc…

Why are we so fixated on the negative side. What about the positive side. For instance the church sign I read today said, “Escape the torment of Hell, accept Jesus as your Savior.” Why not say,

‘Accept Jesus as your Savior and see his face.’
‘Accept Jesus as your Savior and live without pain and sorrow.’
‘Accept Jesus as your Savior and walk on streets of gold.’
‘Accept Jesus as your Savior and see your saved loved ones again.’
‘Accept Jesus as your Savior and say “Thanks” to your loving Lord and worship Him.’
‘Accept Jesus as your Savior and embrace a love that is unconditional.’
‘Accept Jesus as your Savior and join the family of God calling Him Father.’
‘Accept Jesus as your Savior and satisfy the desires of God. [John 3:16]

A retired pastor once told me, ‘you never have to tell someone they are going to hell, they already know.’ I still believe if people were absolutely honest with themselves, they do know where they would spend eternity.

Where you headed?

Until next time,

Selected Scriptures:
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. (John 3:16, 17 NASB)

And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:3, 4 NASB)

Out from the throne come flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder. And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God; and before the throne there was something like a sea of glass, like crystal; and in the center and around the throne, four living creatures full of eyes in front and behind. The first creature was like a lion, and the second creature like a calf, and the third creature had a face like that of a man, and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle. And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the A lmighty, who was and who is and who is to come.” And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.” (Revelation 4:5-11 NASB)
