Notes: Sunday School Lesson 8/4/13
The Son’s Identity
The Word = ‘Logos’ = Communication
Word was w/ God = ‘Logos’ Existed before birth.
Word was God = ‘Logos’ and God = One and the same
The Word [‘Logos’] was with God at the beginning [creation]
Word became flesh = ‘Logos’ was birthed. ‘Communication’ was birthed. Jesus was birthed!!
Word took up residence = dwelt, ‘Pitched His Tent!!’, Poured a foundation.
Observed His glory. = Saw Him face to face. You and I haven’t but We Will.
One and Only Son = ‘begotten of the Father’ = ‘mono-genes’ pronounced mon-o-gen-nace. = means unique, one of a kind.
Full of grace and truth. = It is who Jesus Is!!
The Son’s Purpose
Rejected by His own people. Still is today
Those who received Him received the right to be the children of God. Is a person created by God also God’s child?
Believe in His name = The requirement to be a child of God
born of God’s will = Predestined? Essentially we cannot decide on our own will the term and conditions by which we will be born into the family of God. It is God’s will and God’s way. John 6:44; 65
Cannot look on God the Father b/c
But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!” (Exodus 33:20 NASB)
which He will bring about at the proper time-He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen. (1 Timothy 6:15, 16 NASB)
Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty, Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain. (Psalms 104:1, 2 NASB)
…therefore the One and Only Son has revealed God to us and for us.
The Lamb [sacrifice] to take away [remove/redeem] the sins [restore]
The Son’s Ministry
Examples of a Call to Ministry [Simon [aka Peter], his brother Andrew, then two more men who were brothers; James and John the sons of Zebedee.

Healing of diseases and sicknesses
Here they come for reasons other than the real reason Jesus came. Heal me! I’m Sick! I’m demon possessed! I’m hurting badly. I’m crippled etc…
DID ANYONE YELL OUT I’M LOST AND HEADED FOR HELL. SAVE ME JESUS?
