He doesn’t want His name, reputation, or integrity to be disgraced or profaned. I recently read a note which said, “The next time to want to profane My name, use your own. God.”
When God threatened to destroy all of Israel in the wilderness, Moses appealed to God to refrain for the sake of His honor and fame:
15) Now if You slay this people as one man, then the nations who have heard of Your fame will say, 16) ‘Because the L ord could not bring this people into the land which He promised them by oath, therefore He slaughtered them in the wilderness.’ (Numbers 14:15, 16 NASB)
It appears to be the prevailing attitude of our society to not give a care about God’s reputation. Or at the very least, not give it a thought. It is impossible to know a persons heart. Is it possible to read a person’s heart? There was a time when the children were seen as a reflection of how their parents raised them. A well behaved, well mannered child spoke well of his/her parents.
Teenagers and young adult-aged people have no reluctance to have sex multiple times before marriage. They are remarkable. Marriage means nothing more than a piece of paper to them For some; a casual meeting can grow into a lifestyle where they are actually living together within a months time! Glory be! Welcome to probation!! As long as you behave as your partner wants and you ‘put out’ as prescribed, you have a home. However just as quick as you , pardon the pun, ‘screw up’ then out you go.
Now ask yourself, was it worth giving up yourself, was it worth shaming God with your actions while telling everyone you are a Christian?
Sexual liberties are not liberties at all. Sex within the guidelines of God’s Word are not only righteous pleasures but also can glorify God and promote His holy reputation.
I guess people would rather have God do for them rather than for them to do for God.
For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” (Mark 8:38 NASB)
and especially those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble when they revile angelic majesties, (2 Peter 2:10 NASB)
I just wish people would embrace God so others would accuse them of ‘falling in love with God.
Would you think about honoring God’s reputation? Repentance of sinful behavior after confession with an honest dependence on God for your life and lifestyle is a good start.
Until next time,
