I like Westerns. From the Lone Ranger to Lonesome Dove. I like it better when the ‘good guy’ wears white and the ‘bad guy’ wears black. John Wayne is a personal favorite actor of Western movies. You can catch him in ‘Who Shot Liberty Valance,’ Big Jake,’ ‘McClintoch’, ‘Cahill, U. S. Marshall, and on and on I could go.

In fact, I think I will. There’s ‘War Wagon,’ The Search,’ ‘The Shootest,’ ‘Silverado,’ Not to mention his many other movies not necessarily a Western. I like ‘The Quiet Man.’ As an aside, you can’t beat Maureen O’Hare who co-stars in a lot of movies with John Wayne.

Now that I’ve chased that rabbit let me get to my random thought for this edition of Hoss’ Blog. My introduction about weapons is actually motivated by all the discussion in the USA about Gun Control.

My wife and I have been discussing gun violence for several years. We are advocates of the 2nd Amendment and the freedom to bear arms. In our discussions I have made the statement, “it appears that America is moving back to the days of the old West where the fastest draw lives!”

America is currently battling the use of guns and the irresponsible acts of violence to the degree some Americans sense a government take-over of all people and their privately owned guns. That seems a bit ‘out there’ but to some it is quite serious.

Does it seem far fetched that there could be gun fights where the fastest most accurate draw wins by keeping his/her life while the other person dies!

Is this line of thinking valid or am I losing my mind. You tell me. Until then, i’m going out back and practice my draw. “Bang. Bang.”

Until next time,
