The Source of Adversity
1. God – John 9:2-3
2 Cor. 12:7
2. Satan
Job 1:1, 9-12; 2:4-7
1 Peter 5:8-9
3. Sin
A. Ours – James 1:14-15
B. Others –
4. All Three

The Reaction to Adversity
Blame others

Why? Is an important question. Is not most important.
How? How should I respond?

The Right Response to Adversity

As the result of sin
Assume the responsibility.
Confess & Repent of your sin
Do not complain
Ask God’s help in your weakness
Recognize God wants to use this for His good
Thank God for not allowing you to get by with your sin

Whether God or Satan as source:
Reaffirm your position in Christ
Ask God to remove the adversity
Reaffirm the promise of God’s sustaining grace
Thank God for opportunity to grow
Receive as from God
Read & meditate on God’s Word

The Power of Adversity
A. To increase faith & commitment
B. To provide opportunities to glorify God
John 11

Some things are so important to God that they are worth interrupting the happiness and health of His children in order to accomplish them.
