Can’t Control Them

Granted the title leaves open the multitude of subjects which can fall under it’s umbrella. Anything from gnats to kids to the weather. My thoughts lately have been on “dreams.”

Even now the kids are watching a scary movie. They say it will cause them to have bad dreams. Just how reliable is that belief. Is there anything to it?

Years ago I watched an episode of Gomer Pyle USMC, where he was having bad dreams and even sleep walking. It spread to Sgt. Carter. They surmised it came from eating some type of potato dish.

Don’t you wish you could control your dreams? That way they could always be pleasant dreams. Scenes of the sun setting beyond the horizon of God’s most beautiful shores. For me the trickling sound of a mountain creek with my feet in the cool water, under the shade of a mighty oak while fighting with a BIG ole rainbow trout would be especially nice. Particularly if I hauled it in!

However, the sad reality is, dreams take on a life all there own. Whatever comes to mind in our sleep, however it gets there, takes up residence and controls the dream. Troubling are the dreams which ought not to even be thought but happen just the same.

Now having said that let me ask you this. Are dreams the sleep time version of awaken thoughts? Are dreams thoughts that take place in our sleep? Then would we have to better control our thoughts when awake so to have a greater opportunity to dream good dreams? And finally, do you think God will hold you responsible for what you dream?

“let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Philippians 2:5
