A guy was hired to work at the gas station. He was left alone for an hour after working there a week. Cars were backed up. Customers were angry. When the manager returned, she was furious. She had to kick it in high gear to get things rolling again. She lamb-blasted the guy for letting things get backed up so bad. Why if someone from corporate had come by it would have meant her job!
The problem? The guy did not know how to run credit cards. The reason? The manager had never instructed him. So who is really at fault here?
The manager should have taught the guy. The guy should have initiated the desire to know how to run cards. However, doesn’t this depict society in general. Aren’t we happy with just being spoon fed everything.
For instance, preachers preach the bible but how many people do you know who study it for themselves? We want the pastor to tell us what to believe, how to live, and all that’s Christian.
Same way at work. If I don’t know how to do it then I can’t be expected to actually perform the task.
How bout we decide to change a generation by stimulating them to find answers to homework rather than do it for them. We can teach co-workers how to do a job instead of doing it for them. Society would be better off and so would the individual.
