If you don’t care: don’t ask

A preacher friend went for a question/answer sesson at the church considering him as their pastor. A woman, on the search committee, stood before the church members and asked the candidate how he felt about inter-racial relationships. He responded, “before I aswer that question will you give me your answer to the question?” The woman took a few moments and answered the question. Once she was done the preacher candiate for pastor stood and said, “ma’am, it doesn’t matter what you think. In the end it only matters what God thinks.”

Now I see where’s he coming from however you don’t have a person stand and respond and then demean them like this. It is disrespectful.
For him to even ask when he really didn’t care was disrespectful. If you care enough to ask, then you ought to care enough to give it the weight of respect you proposed. If you don’t care, if you are going to do what you want to do anyways, don’t bother to bother asking.

PS. The preacher candidate was given an invite to become their pastor. He turned them down.
